They said we were too old. We said "Hold our dice!"

Join us as two best friends, strategic / stoic “Erik” and observant / energetic “Steve”, as they embark on this passion project to discuss topics and experiences that surround their world of Warhammer gaming.

Continuing a trend from last week, I am VERY sick of painting power armored infantry and so moved on from Fulgrim to work on the single Maulerfiend that I added to my Coterie list after the last dataslate.

Like Fulgrim, I painted the Maulerfiend in pieces. The reason was to avoid having to fit a brush into really tiny places when doing the trim. I was skeptical that this would work, but it actually proved to be super easy to paint and then assemble afterwards. I would totally do it again.

I also reached out to Steve at this point for some airbrushing help as I was beyond done with hand layering purple onto all of my models. Thankfully, he helped me out and layered my remaining infantry, the Rhinos, and the Maulerfiend with Citadel Kakophoni Purple, which I then washed with Citadel Druchii Violet. Similar to the Infantry, I then painted all of the trim with Army Painter Glittering Gold and washed the trim with Citadel Agrax Earthshade. This resulted in a set of components that looked as shown below.

The next step was to paint the mechanical parts of the model in Citadel Leadbelcher and to wash them with Citadel Nuln Oil. Once this was dry, I could look at the parts and identify other areas that needed touching up or that I wanted to match the armor or trim. I touched those up prior to final assembly and the results are shown below.

Final assembly time! At this point, I glued the Maulerfiend pieces together and then based the model to match the rest of my Chaos armies. I also then painted the eyes with Army Painter Electric Blue, before lightly washing them with Citadel Drakenhof Nightshade. The final product is shown below.
